The Business Sustainability Challenge (BSC) made sustainability accessible, achievable and profitable while facilitating innovation and capacity building.

The initiative supported companies of all sizes and sectors taking incremental steps to becoming more sustainable and competitive. It provided the resources needed to tackle common issues like utility costs, waste, and employee engagement.

We created the BSC for The United Illuminating Company and Eversource and worked with them between 2013-2018 to create and grow the impact of the BSC with companies throughout Connecticut. Over thirty businesses and organizations participated in the initiative. Businesses received customized support and participated in industry specific roundtables including manufacturing, universities, wastewater treatment plants, and healthcare.

The BSC was ratepayer funded through Energize Connecticut and promoted a long-term vision for industry leadership where companies innovate and collaborate to achieve zero-waste and net-zero energy operations. It drew on and met the expectations of the Global Reporting Initiative and the Ceres Roadmap for Sustainability

Business Energy highlighted the Business Sustainability Challenge as "Efficiency and Sustainability Grow Up". See what our clients are said about it in the video below:
